Accessibility
There are numerous methods to increase the accessibility of the website built straight into your browser. Here is what you can do, based on what browser you are using. Apologies if your browser choice is not included here.
Internet Explorer
Zoom in/out (2 ways):
- Click the magnifying glass in the lower right of the screen and select a percentage.
- Hold “CTRL” and press “+” to zoom in, and hold “CTRL” and press “-” to zoom out.
Remove colours (text-only view):
1. Go to “tools”.
2. Go to “Internet Options”.
3. Go to “Accessibility”.
4. Tick all the boxes for “Formatting” and click “OK”.
Change text-size:
1. Hold “Alt” on the keyboard.
2. While holding the “Alt” key, press “p”.
3. While still holding “Alt”, now press “x”.
4. Select the choice of text size now in front of you using the arrow keys and press “Enter”.
Mozilla Firefox
Zoom in/out:
- Hold “CTRL” and press “+” to zoom in, and hold “CTRL” and press “-” to zoom out.
- Alternatively, hold “CTRL” and use your mouse’s scroll-wheel to zoom in/out.
- To reset the zoom to normal, hold “CTRL” and press the number “0″.
Remove colours (text-only view):
There are no features built-in to Firefox to remove colours, but you can get a useful add-on that removes colours from web pages here.
Change text-size/colours:
1. Go to “Tools”.
2. Go to “Options”.
3. Click on “Content” at the top of the Options window.
4. Under “Fonts & Colors” you can set a default text size from the drop-down menu, and set colors by clicking on the “Colors…” button and altering the options there.
Safari
Zoom text (2 ways):
- Hold the Apple button and press “+” to zoom in, and hold the Apple button and press “-” to zoom out.
- Click on “View”, select “Text Size” and two buttons will be added to the toolbar – the big “A” increases text size and the little “A” decreases it.
Google Chrome
Zoom in/out (2 ways):
- Hold “CTRL” and press “+” to zoom in, and hold “CTRL” and press “-” to zoom out.
- Hold “CTRL” and use your mouse’s scroll-wheel to zoom in/out.
Remove colours (text-only view)/change font:
Google Chrome unfortunately does not include these features, but you can download an extension to manage these things from here.
