What's in it for me?

the fun we have

You get to have fun!  Here's what Paul, a volunteer, said about his experiences with Young and Free:

"Karl and I have buddied up for approximately 4 months, typically meeting up once a week.

"To date, we have been to Weston and Clifton, sampling the nightlife, a house party, shopping, cinema and out of town pubs.

"Going out and about with Karl is for me no different to what I do with anyone else.  We always aim to have fun, first and foremost.  Generally catch up and talk about a variety of different topics.

"I strive to ensure Karl gains what he is seeking from being a member, as outlined in his application form.

"Buddying has enabled me to develop my interpersonal skills, re-evaluate my priorities, overcome issues in a calm and considered manner and, finally, embrace and understand (based on practical experience) Y & F’s vision of social integration."

Become a Buddy?

No special qualifications are required for being a buddy other than being, responsible, mature (even if young), friendly, patient and a good sense of humour.

Guidance and training is according to the individual needs of each of the disabled members
